Scott + Brittany - Yorkton, Sask Wedding

Monday, September 11, 2017

I have been lucky enough to work with Brittany on many weddings – she’s a super talented wedding and event planner! When she asked me to photograph her’s and Scott’s wedding I was beyond thrilled.

There was a hint of rain in the skies the morning of their big day, but no one gave it a second thought. If anything, Brittany said, it would ensure the groom and groomsmen were comfortable! From antique jewelry to a garter made from her grandmother and mother’s wedding dresses and veil, every little detail was planned to the utmost perfection. Scott helped bring Brittany’s dream wedding come to life. I have never seen his smile as wide as when he opened a very thoughtful gift from his bride – a book of every card, event ticket and photographs taken since he’d proposed.

Ukrainian traditions were strong at the ceremony and reception from the Korovai to the musicians, dill pickles, vodka shots and wheat. The ceremony was held in the same church Brittany’s parents were married in many years ago. Scott surprised Brittany and had a vintage car ready for a drive around Yorkton before they cruised out to York Lake for photos.

Pink and gold and candles and sparkle! The reception was filled with laughter and much love as family members from both sides welcomed each of them with open arms. Ukrainian dancers sang traditional songs and danced for the bride and groom before everyone took to the dance floor to bust a move to a mix of Ukrainian, Greek and modern music.

In the last hours of an early harvest day one month later, Scott, Brittany and I headed out into the Saskatchewan countryside to capture a few private moments in the fleeting light. Scott and Brittany, I am so lucky to call you both dear friends. The love you have for one another is so real and it was an honour to capture just a small piece of it. Congratulations!
